WHAT IS AN ENGAGED TEAM?
As a supervisor, I felt my role was to protect the people I supervise and ensure they are taken care of in regard to courses to enhance their promotion ability and in regard to their current job. I think this created an engaged team.
An engaged team is a team that knows they can provide alternatives to the current way of doing things without repercussions.
An engaged team knows that they can request additional assignments in other areas without being told we cannot do without you!
An engaged team knows their family life is their first priority and can attend to personal affairs without feeling guilty.
An engaged team knows that the team is as strong as the weakest link, therefore works diligently to ensure all is aware of the teams work and how to do that work independently if a team member is missing.
An engaged team ensures the team pulls the weight of a suffering team member without judgment.
An engaged team is a team that knows there are promotion possibilities if they not only work hard but are able to prepare themselves for high levels of assignments (through additional classes, another degree, temporary assignments, etc.).
Lastly, an engaged team recognizes who are the customers and their responsibilities to that customer.
Are you supervising an engaged team?
Are you a member of an engaged team?
Have you supervised engaged teams? Is there anything else you would like to add to this subject?
